Florida Medicaid ADA Waivers for Medical Alarms

We are often asked if LifeStation medical alarms are covered by Medicaid and the answer is, as with many things, it depends. It depends on what state you live in and your ability to meet the eligibility requirements in that state. Florida residents can qualify for a LifeStation medical alarm from Medicaid through as part of the Aged/Disabled Adult Waiver Program. Contact LifeStation for more information about medical alarms. To order your LifeStation system using the Medicaid Waiver, contact your case worker. (Users cannot directly place medical alert orders using Medicaid Waivers.)

To be eligible for the A/DA Medicaid Waiver services, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 60 years old or older or be ages 18 to 59 and determined disabled according to Social?Security standards.
  • Be Medicaid eligible (financially and medically). Financial eligibility for home and community-based waiver services is determined by DCF staff using the Institutional Care Program (ICP) assets and income eligibility criteria.
  • Meet nursing facility level of care criteria for Intermediate I or Intermediate II as determined by the DOEA Comprehensive Assessment and Review for Long-Term Care Services (CARES)
