Older People Are Happier

At LifeStation we want to keep the elderly safe and healthy so they’ll be around for a long time. As people live longer, we hope that they remain happy. However many fear that a longer life may only mean more time to be stressed and unhappy.

An interesting talk on TED TALKS explores this very question and concludes that older people are actually happier than anyone else. Negative emotions are less prevalent in older people, and studies have shown that stress, worry and anger all decrease with age. Another study asked people at different times during the day how they felt at that moment. It concluded that older people felt more positive and happy emotions more often than both young and middle aged people.

As we age, not only do negative emotions like stress, worry and anger decrease, but we feel more positive and happy emotions more often.
